Quarter 1
It took a while for both teams to settle in to their rhythm but after a quite erratic first 5 minutes Atoms settled into their usual playing style. After going goal for goal for the first part of the quarter, unforced errors started to creep into Cowie’s play and Atoms took full advantage of these mistakes and pulled away towards the end of the quarter. An on form Kerri Lewis had some fantastic Interceptions and Atoms took full advantage of these.

Quarter 2
Emma Strachan came on as C in place of Joanna Geddes who came off for a rest after some fantastic first quarter action. Cowie came out fighting in the second quarter and really took the game to Atoms by scoring a number of goals in quick succession. Unfortunately there was a fumble in the centre court which saw Atoms Goal Attack Becky go over her ankle and she was unable to continue for the rest of the match. Joanna’s rest was short lived as she took the WA position from Rachel Malley who moved into GA in Becky’s absence. After a period of unsettlement Atoms began to find their stride again and remained ahead as the whistle blew for half time.

Quarter 3
After a couple of changes in defence Atoms get the third quarter under way with a quick break from the centre circle into the goal third which results in with a superb shot by Claire. Cowie fought straight back with some excellent play between the C and WA to move the ball into the Goal Third before the GS took an excellent shot from the edge of the circle. The game became quite heated towards the end of this quarter which saw a few players from each team falling throughout the quarter, thankfully no more injuries.

Quarter 4
The last quarter saw Atoms finish with real style……… Some fantastic interceptions from Nicola Stephen and Rachel Wilkie saw Cowie really struggle to get any attempts at goal in this quarter. Rachel Malley really settled into her role as Goal Attack with some fantastic goals. With Claire Buckley and Rachel Malley gelling together brilliantly in this quarter the Atoms attack became unstoppable.
